Sign Of Love

“Sign of Love” is the exceptional debut album by Gretchen Harris. Most of this collection of was co-written by Gretchen and producer David Harris. The music is adult contemporary in style with moving, inspirational Catholic Christian lyrics.

Gretchen wrote her lyrics with the intention of bringing the listener closer to Jesus and to others. Her message is one of peace, in one's heart and circumstances, and in one's many relationships.

The album “Sign of Love” is skillfully produced and arranged by David Harris and contains the talents of many well-respected players and singers, such as Kirk Whalum on sax, John Robinson on drums, John Patitucci on bass, and Alex Acuña on percussion. These gifted musicians have worked with such artists as Phil Collins, Whitney Houston, and Elton John, and have outstanding solo projects as well.

This album opens with “Communion,” a soothing song that has a peaceful, meditational flavor. It has received much airplay on both Christian and Catholic radio. This song was included on the compilation CD “Catholic Artists for the Millennium II,” which won the Unity Award for “Special Event Album of the Year” from the United Catholic Music and Video Association.

The upbeat “Let the Whole World Know” inspires evangelization and incorporates a great horn section in the arrangement. The title track, “Sign of Love,” reflects on how God shows his love in many ways - in new life and in His Son - and calls us to be signs of His love also. It ends with an extended instrumental section that prolongs the mood of the music.

“One Son” features soaring vocals by Chuck Negron of Three Dog Night. It speaks of God's call to each one of us as individuals. “In The Light” has a social justice theme and includes rousing group vocals. “No Matter What” was written for Gretchen's eldest child and expresses a commitment to love unconditionally.

“Sweetheart Dad” is a favorite of many, and tells of the impact Gretchen's father had on her, especially through his praying of the Rosary. This song speaks of an undying hope in a heavenly “family reunion.”

The desire to have God change us completely was the inspiration for “Change My Mind,” a great song with a shuffle groove. Gretchen wrote the lyrics to “Lovin' You” to express that immeasurable joy we can experience as Catholic Christians. This is a very happy, upbeat song.

“Yes Lord” has been used by God to heal and encourage many people in trying circumstances, as well as in everyday life. And the album wraps up with a favorite in concert, “Be Watchful.” It is a “get up and dance” invitation, to watch for our Lord's return with joyful anticipation!

As Gretchen shares her music, she appreciates the opportunity to reach out through her ministry to extend God's hand of peace and love.

REVIEWS FOR "SIGN OF LOVE" ----

Power Source Music Magazine:

Gretchen delivers an impressive eleven-song performance in this contemporary inspirational work. Both her laid back, jazzy style and voice lie somewhere between a Joni Mitchell and Ricky Lee Jones. The CD has a very relaxed feel to it. I liked ONE SON, and LOVING YOU, but my absolute favorite is CHANGE MY MIND. This selection is a beautiful message about allowing God to work his will in us. If you have ever tried to take control of your destiny only to find yourself asking our Father for guidance after falling on your backside, you will enjoy this song. Great CD.
